Biophilic Design

Ok, here I go again. Another post on Interior design trends vs wedding decor. I promise you that there is really no difference in home decor trends and event design trends. I think we will be seeing allot of Biophilic Design. Biophilic design is a concept used within the building industry to increase occupant connectivity to the natural environment through the use of direct nature, indirect nature, and space and place conditions.

Biophilic Design is a soothing space that bolsters our health and wellbeing. Think of a "nature focus trend" that highlights the outside. Bringing in natural light, using muted organic tones and open-air spaces.

The use of wood, leather and stones are a perfect for Biophilic Design. Think long tables capes of wooden bowls filled with stones and plants, succulents and candles or just soft ferns in leather containers or boxes.

The use of materials that have been repurposed is a great way to incorporate Biophilic Design into your wedding. Mix up chairs that you have collected for just the head table or then entire space.

A mix of greens, herbs and different types of eucalyptus is a great way to decorate your pews or chairs for your ceremony. After the ceremony try repurposing the foliage into your reception decor. I do not recommend using for your tables because they will need to be set before your guests walk in. I like using it for spaces like the cake, maybe a fireplace or bathroom.
